THE MEXICAN WOLF PROGRAM In a 5 year period, 250 wolves will attack and savagely slaughter over 7000 head of livestock and game animals. The cost to New Mexico and the US economy for the Mexican Gray Wolf Program will be well over $60,000,000 in the next five years. CAN OUR COUNTRY AFFORD THIS INSANE PROGRAM IN THESE PERILOUS TIMES? As a webmaster for a number
of organizations, I have noticed that people who rant and rage in God's
name generally are ignorant of the facts, particularly those people
who hide behind anonymous postings. Americans for Preservation of Western
Environment (APWE) recently received an email from someone who calls
himself "Dave
U. Random", sent from an
anonymous email account. This amazing email (below) was not made up.
Since I can't reply to Mr. Random, I will make a few points in reply
here.
Dear Mr. Random: Re: your first paragraph: 1) Are you aware that "Mexican gray wolves" aren't native to the "recovery" area? The original Mexican wolves were trapped in Mexico, then force-bred in captivity in Arizona as well as in zoos around the USA. Then they were released in an area where a totally different gray wolf used to roam (Mogollon wolf). Not only are the wolves you're so upset about not native, but how do you think they feel after being raised behind bars in New York, for example, then turned loose somewhere they've never been before and even their ancestors never lived? My point is that Mexican gray wolves are no more native than any of us who live here today are. I, for one, have lived here longer than the Mexican wolves have. Almost all the farmers and ranchers have, too. Re: your second paragraph 1) If there is a God above I surely would not wish harm on another in His name. What does it say about you that you would do so? 2) Are you one of those uneducated people who believes that food comes from grocery stores, rather than grown in and on the ground? What did you have for breakfast? If it didn't come from a farmer or rancher, then it came from a factory farm, which is an infinite number of times more polluting as well as extraordinarily cruel to the animals involved. Cattle on steroids and hormones? Oh please. Check your facts! The whole point of raising cattle on grass is to avoid having to give those kinds of drugs. Why would a rancher want to add to his overhead by giving steroids and hormones when they fatten up so nicely on grass alone? You know, if Americans stopped eating food that comes from feedlots and factories, that would probably take care of the early puberty issue. Don’t blame the obesity and early puberty problems on farmers and ranchers that raise their animals in a healthy environment! As for Mr. Random's last sentence, there's no point in bothering to reply. How unhappy he must be to have that kind of ignorance and anger inside. -- Webmaster |
